Nice Inaniwa Udon in Yushima

On the halfway to the hill of Yushima(湯島), there is a small Inaniwa udon(稲庭うどん) shop called "Daigo(醍醐)." Udon is a Japanese thick-wheat flour made noodle and Inaniwa udon is a specialty in the Akita Prefecture(秋田県). The shop is ran by an old lady. Only around six seats are available along a counter. The atmosphere is family-like and rustic, the taste is sophisticated.

A udon costs around JPY700-800. What is striking in Daigo is we can eat variety of delicious side dishes as you like. All of them are hand-made and good. Their Inaniwa udon is delicious without discussion. Particularly the soup using rich fish bouillon and minced chicken meat balls are impressive. I felt only good ingredients are used for the dishes.

You can't stay long in Daigo, but if you like udon, you can visit the shop when you come to the Yushima-Tenjin Shrine(湯島天神). My rating is 3.6 out of 5. Gochiso-samadeshita!
